Hello everyone and welcome to another one of my Black Ops 2 weapon guides, I'm sorry for not having a constant schedule with the weapon guides or reviews. I apologize for the long wait for anyone who is a dedicated reader of my reviews and weapon guides, I thank you though for your patience and support.
With that said and done let's look at the first handgun we get to use in Black Ops 2's multiplayer, the Five-Seven.
Weapon History
The FN Five-Seven, trademarked as the Five-seveN is a semi-automatic pistol designed and manufactured by FN Herstal in Belgium. The weapon's name is named after the millimeter fired, a 5.7mm round. The Five-Seven was developed in conjunction with the FN P90 personal defense weapon and the FN 5.7x28mm cartridge.
The Five-Seven was introduced in 1998, eight years after the introduction of the P90 and is very similar to the P90 design, a lightweight polymer-based weapon with a large magazine capacity, ambidextrous controls, low recoil and the ability to penetrate body armor when using a certain cartridge types.
Originally the Five-Seven was only restricted to be sold to military and law enforcement customers but since 2004 the pistol is available to civilian soldiers.
Let's see how well it performs in game.
Game Performance
Before I begin I need to bring something up to mind. We've seen the Five-Seven before back in MW3. So not only in this weapon guide am I going to be checking out the weapons' stats now but also back in MW3.
Back in MW3 the Five-Seven was a low damage handgun dealing 36 damage up close and 17 at a distance, at a maximum of 11m the Five-Seven would deal it's maximum damage and at a range of 16m it would deal it's lowest damage. Rate of Fire was at 1,000 rpm.
In my experience this handgun was a hitmarker maker. It had 15 rounds but after I was done with the enemy I only had 8-6 rounds in the mag, it was not a reliable weapon. So let's see how the new Five-Seven performs in Black Ops 2.
In game the Five-Seven deals 55 damage up close and 19 at a distance. The damage at range doesn't start to drop off at 2 meters and completely falls down in damage at 36 meters, if your opponent is across the map and he doesn't react fast enough and your trigger finger is a force to be reckoned with, you could snipe an opponent with the Five-Seven and kill them with 5-6 hits.
The recoil of the Five-Seven is extremely low and has clean iron sights.
The Five-Seven fires as fast as you can pull the trigger or until you reach it's fire cap at 750 RPM. The raise time is very fast 0.27s and the drop time at 0.32s, the ADS time is also remarkably fast at 130 mili-seconds.
Your movement speed is also fast as you move at 100% of the default sprint speed.
Reload time and magazine capacity is also good at 20 rounds in the mag and 1.60 for the reload speed, initially you have 4 magazines.
The Five-Seven in Black Ops 2 compared to it's former self in MW3 the Black Ops 2 version wins in terms of damage, however in terms of range and reload speed the MW3 version wins. Do not let that affect your judgement however. The Five-Seven still performs well and can take down many opponents with ease.
The Five-Seven serves as a good secondary or a very weak primary.
Secondary Build
If you want to use the Five-Seven as a secondary, pair the Five-Seven with any of the assault rifles, LMGs and SMGs.
Primary Build
If you want to use it as a primary here are the perks and attachments and wild cards you want to use.
For your Wild Cards.
Take in Secondary Gun Fighter and Perk 3 Greed. We want to give the Five-Seven an advantage in range performance and give you the ability to take down opponents who may catch you off guard with the 2 attachments I'm going to recommend.
For your attachments.
The Long Barrel and Laser Sight will slightly give the Five-Seven a boost in range for opponents that are further away from your effective area, and if you're ever caught in a pinch the Laser Sight will be there to help you take out the opponent without having to aim down the sight.
For your perks.
Lightweight, Toughness and Dexterity. For your second 3rd perk choose Extreme Conditioning.
This class will keep you mobile and prepare you to take damage from on-coming fire from your opponents but still keeping your sights on target, ready to take him down with a deadly hail of bullets. The last point used should be used for Tactical Equipment, either the Concussion or Flashbang grenade will help you to take out disabled opponents and eliminate them quickly without giving them a fighting chance.
The Verdict
The Five-Seven is a reliable secondary and a decent primary for the more adventurous player with a deadly trigger finger. Low recoil paired with a decent fire rate and high damage is the Five-Seven's key characteristics.
The Five-Seven will either be your go to handgun when caught in a pinch or the only weapon you will need to dominate the opposition.
Thank you for reading and I hope this helps you in your Black Ops 2 multiplayer career. Join me next time when I'll be covering the first shotgun available, the R-870 MCS Shotgun.
