Retro Reviews:Star Wars:Rogue Squadron(N64)

Let's go back in time to the year of 1998. At the time I was 4 so I didn't learn about this game actually until the next year and this was actually the 2nd game I owned. Star Wars Shadows of The Empire to Star Wars Rogue Squadron, you can tell what I was a fan of at the time. So of course this game was in my sights, simply look at the cover. So instantly at first glance this grabbed my interest, I got the game, put it in the console and so many days of finishing my homework, coming home from school I would pop this game in and enjoy myself. I was in my Star Wars zone, I would blast through the levels of the game in the X-Wing. Was it great for the time and is it still great now? Story Taking place six months after Star Wars Episode IV, the Rebel Alliance has created a squad of the most skilled Rebel pilots to form Rogue Squadron, led by Luke Skywalker to defend other systems in the galaxy from The Empire and hit The Empire hard when the opportunity arises. ...

Retro Reviews-Star Wars:Shadows of The Empire(N64)

Welcome everyone. Today we're going to be looking at an oldie of the N64 era and the first game to enter my game library. Star Wars:Shadows of the Empire. One of the first few games to enter the Nintendo 64's library, Star Wars Shadows of The Empire was the 3rd top selling game of 1997 for the Nintendo 64 and again the first game I've ever owned. Has it aged well and was it good for the standards games were held up to at the time? Story The story takes place during the time of Episode V in the Star Wars original trilogy and before Star Wars Episode VI. You play as Dash Rendar, a rogue mercenary hired by Princess Leia to help her and Luke Skywalker defend against The Empire and a criminal syndicate known as "Black Sun" led by a man only known as Prince Xizor. Xizor has planned to kill Luke Skywalker and make Darth Vader look like a failure in The Emperor's eye. If it's revealed that Skywalker is dead and the Emperor cannot have the a...

EA announces the elimination of the Online Pass

Earlier this week EA has announced the elimination of the much hated Online Pass program. A program in which consumers had to input a code that came with the new copy of any EA game with multiplayer or online services. However for consumers who purchased a used copy of an EA game, would only get half of the experience the game had to offer. For instance my friend let me borrow Battlefield 3, since he all ready used the online pass I could not purchase the multiplayer so I had to pay 10 bucks for a game I borrowed free from my friend, I rented Mass Effect 3 and could not access the multiplayer because there was no online pass, it would've cost 15 bucks simply to rent the game. John Reseburg, EA senior director of corporate communications says "Yes, we're discontinuing Online Pass." and also stated "None of our new EA titles will include that feature." Current EA games will still use the Online Pass system but future EA titles will not use the Onli...

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Weapon Guides: Ballista Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle Guide

Hello everyone and welcome to another one of my Black Ops 2 weapon guides. Today we're going over the community favorite sniper rifle. The Ballista. Weapon Profile The Ballista is known as the FN Ballista, a rifle designed by FN Herstal in Belgium, the rifle was designed to meet the reuirments of the Precision Sniper Rifle program for the US Army. The PSR program by the United States Special Operations Command to replace all current bolt-action sniper rifles in use by US special operations to instead have rifles chambered for .338 Magnum calibers, Lapua magnum and Norma magnum calibers. The Ballista met these requirements but was not adopted by the US military, the Ballista was compared to the Remington MSR, the Armalite AR-30 and the Accuracy International AWM rifle from the United Kingdom.  The MSR is the rifle that won the PSR  contract and now the MSR has been put into service this year used by the USSOCOM . Weapon Performance In game, the Ballista i...

Batman: Arkham City Review

Ohhhhh boy. This is something I've been looking forward to doing this week. In 2009 gamers and comic book fans alike we're treated with a new Batman game, Batman Arkham Asylum. Upon playing the game, fans everywhere were delighted with how finely crafted this new Batman game was, the combination of free-flow melee combat and the stealth-predator challenges presented to players throughout the game. It was a marvel and showed hope yet for more comic book based games. Then in Summer 2011 we were given a teaser to the return of our favorite villain. Come late 2011 we were presented with the sequel to the greatest comic book game made. Batman: Arkham City. So how does it fare comparing to it's predecessor? Story 6 months after the events of Arkham Asylum. Bruce Wayne has suddenly become interested in politics and is running a campaign for the shut down of the now super prison Arkham City, a mega prison built around the ruins of Old Gotham run by Dr.Hugo ...

Violent Game Tax: "No Problem!"

Hello everyone, let's go back to the subject of the "Sin Tax" the tax increase on sales of M rated games. Awhile back Dianne Fienstein, Senator of California, had proposed a "Sin Tax" which would be a 10% tax increase on violent video games. This subject has been brought up again as Vice-President Joe Biden in a meeting with religious leaders, said that there would be no legal problems in taxing violent media. Something that wants to be done is that the revenue should go to research on studying the impact on young people who play violent games and watch violent movies. Reverend Graham the religious leader that the Vice-President met with said that the funds derived from the taxes should go towards helping victims of gun violence, along with their families. Now look we've been down this road before, some violent incident occurs and we find a scapegoat to use and not actually go down to the root of the problem and take out the root. Video games and...
