The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (2006) Review

Good afternoon everyone.

I have decided to begin a marathon review of my entire Legend of Zelda collection.

A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess, I will play each game in random order however.

I finished Twilight Princess an hour ago so let's begin.

Story

Taking place one century after Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, we meet our hero Link in the peaceful forest province of Ordon where he is working as a ranch hand, who has been given the task to present a gift from the village to the Princess of Hyrule.

Before Link is set to deliver the gift, strange things have been happening in the forest outside of the village, mysterious creatures and sounds coming from deep within. During this time the village is attacked, the children kidnapped and Link left to try and save the kids.

Link however discovers that the forest is blocked by a wall of darkness, he is taken into the world to somehow be transformed into a beast. Link is taken prisoner in a castle when he meets a peculiar character, Midna.

Midna tells Link what is happening to Hyrule.

Hyrule is under attack by beings known as the Twili, the king of Twili is attempting to take over the realm of light. The King of Twili known as Zant is bringing the Twilight Realm to the world of light so the beings of the Twilight Realm can take over and  take revenge on the people of Hyrule that banished the Twili from the world of light.

Link must now rid Hyrule of the Twilight Realm and stop Zant from taking over the realm of light.

Presentation

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, like every other Legend of Zelda game looks gorgeous.

Twilight Princess however is gorgeous on a grand scale, the open world of Hyrule is...

HUGE!!!!

Exploring the world of Hyrule is now a grand scale adventure, finding new beautiful locations by taking the different pathways waiting for you to explore. I still probably haven't explored every corner of the world yet.

You'll also be exploring some familiar locations with a huge revision.

Lake Hylia, Death Mountain, The Lost Woods and The Temple of Time. To name a few familiar locations, however the world has changed drastically so these locations are familiar in name and not in design.

Word of warning though. For those who play the Gamecube version first then play the Nintendo Wii port of Twilight Princess(or vice versa), the layout of the world will be mirrored from the first version you play.

Gameplay

Twilight Princess plays as you'd expect a Legend of Zelda game to play out. You go to several temples, explore the temple finding keys to locked doors to get closer to the mini-boss to collect the item needed so you can access the area with the boss key or get to the boss itself. The first three temples playout  the same as the last with aesthetic differences, but it's the temples after words that refresh the experience with new and unique puzzles to solve in order to proceed through the game.

You have your sword, your shield and a range of unique items to discover in temples or by completing side quests. There are some changes such as the inclusion of swinging your sword meanwhile you're moving and the addition of playing as a wolf.

Playing the Wolf version of Link does restrain your abilities in certain aspects but playing as the wolf does also open up different possibilities of moving through the world and finding secret locations throughout the world. The Wolf will be needed to solve certain puzzles in temples you later explore and be used to reach certain areas for important items.

Throughout the game Link can learn combat skills by using the wolf to howl a song emanating from special tones hidden throughout the world. These moves do spice up the combat but can become stale if used too often. These moves don't over power Link to the point every enemy you ever face will always lose by performing one move, enemies will be well guarded and be wise to what attack you're attempting to do and will stop you before you the attack is carried out.

Your partner character Midna, unlike Navi is a character you actually care for and is actually helpful when you need her. At first she is a bit annoying mocking you for certain shortcomings (some you had no control over), but as time continues she'll later be more kind, interesting and informative.

One thing that many people will notice in the game is that it plays out a lot like Ocarina of Time. Twilight Princess is a soul successor to Ocarina of Time, the first three temples you explore are in the same order like the first three temples you explored in Ocarina of Time.

The forest temple first, the fire temple second and the water temple third. Easy, normal and hard.

It doesn't make the game bad or boring, but you will notice a lot of things Nintendo took out of the Ocarina of Time cheat sheet.

The Verdict

Twilight Princess was the last Zelda title for the Gamecube. It's 7 years old but it still is as enjoyable as it was in 2006.

You will notice obvious similarities between Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess however, but once you think what Ocarina of Time is to the Legend of Zelda series, saying that Twilight Princess being too similar to Ocarina of Time is a sin.

Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess gets an excellent 9 out of 10

Thank you for reading

If you want to pick this game up, you can buy it now for Gamecube and Wii.

Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Weapon Guide:M-TAR Assault Rifle

Hello everyone, time for my first weapon guide of Black Ops 2. Today we're looking at the starting assault rifle, the M-TAR. History The Micro-Tar is a micro version of the TAR-21 rifle. It's designed to take advantage of a shorter barrel which means decreased recoil but increased accuracy. Designed for special fores units, it is capable of converting to different ammo variants such as the NATO standard 5.56 cartridge and the 9mm submachine gun round. It is also designed to be capable of attaching a Suppressor, as of 2009 a grenade launcher was being designed to attach to the M-TAR, the M-TAR can attach the M203PI grenade launcher. If you're a FPS veteran then you saw this weapon first in Battlefield 3 as part of the Close Quarters DLC, for COD veterans we saw this weapon's bigger brother, the TAR-21 in Modern Warfare 2. I'm warning you now, the M-TAR is not the TAR-21 we saw in Modern Warfare 2. Multiplayer Stats, Attachments and Performance In gam

Retro Gazette Reviews:Batman Returns SNES Review

Hello everyone. Welcome to another one of my Retro Reviews. Today we're going to be looking at a personal favorite of mine from the Super Nintendo era. Batman Returns. Story Music If you can't tell all ready from the intro video above, the music to Batman Returns for the SNES sounds great and does a good job of recreating some of the songs we heard in the film. My personal favorite stage music is from Stage 7 when you enter Arctic World, The Liberation of Gotham track sounds amazing in 16 bit audio. It's strange to review the music in a video game but the audio stands out so much and does an amazing job, again of recreating the films' soundtrack. Presentation The graphics and detail of Batman Returns is very good and ironically is much more colorful than the Tim Burton film. Gotham City, although currently suffering from a clown riot looks fantastic and Konami yet again does a good job of recreating scenes from the film, you see all these backgro
