The Partisanship Bubble

Well hello everyone, I'm taking a crack at a political blog post, this may either get nasty very quickly or something that's rather sobering for many. Have you noticed that in politics today we are very divided? Many of you probably rolled your eyes and said to yourself or out loud "Gee, ya think?" and some of you sighed in sadness as it is very disheartening to acknowledge the fact that we are very divided when it comes to our politics. How it has happened, I think, is from the one thing both the members of the Democratic and Republican party have in common, a bubble. A bubble of selected information from a particular source of information and a group of friends or acquaintances that share similar political views and opinions. Those on both sides have decided to escape into these bubbles, not wanting to have anything to do with the other people outside of their own bubbles. We do not want to put ourselves in the shoes of others, not understanding why ...

Violent Game Tax: "No Problem!"

Hello everyone, let's go back to the subject of the "Sin Tax" the tax increase on sales of M rated games. Awhile back Dianne Fienstein, Senator of California, had proposed a "Sin Tax" which would be a 10% tax increase on violent video games. This subject has been brought up again as Vice-President Joe Biden in a meeting with religious leaders, said that there would be no legal problems in taxing violent media. Something that wants to be done is that the revenue should go to research on studying the impact on young people who play violent games and watch violent movies. Reverend Graham the religious leader that the Vice-President met with said that the funds derived from the taxes should go towards helping victims of gun violence, along with their families. Now look we've been down this road before, some violent incident occurs and we find a scapegoat to use and not actually go down to the root of the problem and take out the root. Video games and...

South Carolina Special Election: Mark Sanford vs Elizabeth Colbert-Busch

Good afternoon everybody, welcome to my 2nd news post in my current trial run of blogging about recent news in politics and gaming. In South Carolina's 1st Congressional District a special election was held yesterday in order to fill the empty seat in congress previously held by Representative Tim Scott who was appointed to the seat previously held by Jim DeMint who had resigned from the Senate on December 6th 2012 to accept a position as president of The Heritage Foundation. During mid January choices were made for candidates for both parties for the special primary elections which took place on March 19th 2013, Elizabeth Colbert Busch(Stephen Colbert's sister!) (Stephen-left, Elizabeth-right) Won the Democratic nominee and on the Republican side it was former Governor Mark Sanford who the nomination, a man who's teeth are literally so clean you see those pearly whites before you actually see him. Mark Sanford won the special election by 8.83 percent of the...

13 Year Old Teen Attempts Rape and then kills Mother over Call of Duty.

Hello everybody, today is the start of something new I'm going to try and bring in some news stories that have gone on in the week, political news and world news etc. So today I'm going to start off with this very chilling and shocking story about a teenager  who got very furious with his mother, as she was taking away a copy of a COD game due to the teen  getting bad grades in school. The kid did not like this one instant,he got so furious he tried to rape his own mother and instead decided to shoot her multiple times with a .22 caliber Ruger rifle that was purchased by the mother for the child when he was 11 years old. Apparently there has been some past events when the mother and son would get into an argument but would end up with the two patching things together and playing video games together, this day it was much much different and the kid went out of control and decided to viciously demonstrate his dislike of the mothers' choice to take away Call of Duty. ...

Gun Control. How can it be solved?

Hello everyone. This is a serious issue that I am going to be talking about today, gun control. How should it be addressed, what's the solution and what causes gun violence? After the events at Sandy Nook Elementary the topic of Gun Control has been talked about a lot in the political media, however each approach from both sides of the political coin doesn't seem to be thinking logically. The Conservative approach is more guns, today the NRA held a conference in which they stated that they ask for Congress to pass a law in which there will be an armed officer at every school in the nation. The Spokesman also said "The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun." I'm sorry but this does not solve the problem. First of all the gunman could be thinking that they are the good guy and the officer is the bad guy and think that what he's doing is good for everyone. The Spokesman continued to say "Why is it ok for Secret Service to...
