The Video Game Adaptation Conundrum

You might have heard something about HBO's latest show "The Last of Us". You are probably hearing how it is a wonderful attempt at adapting a video game to live-action format. You are probably hearing that it is doing a good job of telling the story from the video game that was a major success within the gaming industry WAY back in twenty thirteen. Only a handful of games have been given the award by the community in the gaming industry and the industry itself in having a masterfully told story with a brilliant cast of characters with a brilliant cast of actors. Troy Baker and Ashely Johnson as Joel and Ellie in the Last of Us rose to fame and would forever be remembered as one of the best gaming duos since Master Chief and Cortana. Heart strings would be tugged in ways that would leave an indelible mark on gamers for years to come.  It was also a clear indication that the format of narrative based games in the industry were changing. Games were becoming so cinematic that...

She-Hulk Attorney At Law Review: The Worst of the MCU

The Marvel Cinematic Universe was a truly enjoyable ten years of comic book movies because what made the Marvel Cinematic "Phases" different from movies like Batman '89 and the Dark Knight Trilogy was that each movie in the MCU was connected to each other in one way or another. The Infinity Saga connected the discovery of the Infinity Stones with the main big bad of Thanos. For ten years, audiences watched The Avengers fight people either using Infinity Stones to wreak havoc on the world or stop efforts to find an Infinity Stone for such power.  After Avengers Endgame, the story continued for the MCU. Spider-Man Far From Home, No Way Home, Wandavision, Loki, Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Moonknight,  Ms.Marvel and now She-Hulk Attorney At Law. It's pretty safe to say that Marvel has not slowed down on putting out new movies or television shows for Marvel fans to watch and try to keep those Disney Plus subscribers interested in the exclusive Marvel content on offer.S...

Netflix's Resident Evil: Another Horrible Adaptation

When it comes to the live action Resident Evil adaptations, ask any fan of the series and they'll tell you that they have never gotten it right. Ask a fan who was there since they first tried to adapt Resident Evil to the big screen and they will tell you they have not gotten right since 2002. Think about that, for the last twenty years Capcom and whatever studio that they gave the rights to have not done the Resident Evil franchise any justice when it comes to live action cinematic outings. To be fair, the first two live action Resident Evil films were not that good but they were at least enjoyable in that the new story they told was at least something you could see in a Resident Evil game and Resident Evil Apocalypse did cover the Raccoon City outbreak with a pretty faithful and practically designed Nemesis with legacy characters like Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira. Of course afterwords was the 3D action guilty pleasure nonsense that stuck with the films until the very end w...

Elden Ring Review: The Journey & The Destination

When The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released 11 years ago (let that sink in for a bit) it was an incredible gaming phenomenon that was something truly beautiful to witness and admire. Everyone who played Skyrim was presented with a gorgeous world with good story telling and an immersive experience that put other open world games on point to try and do a better job than this. Players were not just experiencing a quality game but also going on a great adventure with an insane amount of possibilities to happen in one session.  Friends would come to school with exploits of caves and dungeons explored resulting in the discovery of powerful enemies and incredible rewards like weapons, armor or new dragon shouts to enhance the player's dragon-born abilities. Beautiful sky boxes with clear blue skies and night time aurora skies that left players with a sense of wonder and awe at what a beautiful work of art was before them.  To this day Skyrim is still regarded highly by many w...

Destiny 2: The Witch Queen Review: A Step in the Right Direction

So if  you have read my past posts about Destiny 2 or really heard any honest yet faithful Destiny fan, it should be no surprise that Destiny is a hard game to love not only privately but also publicly. Privately, many a player such as myself can play the game but think often at times "Man I could be playing Final Fantasy 14 or ANY other game right now but I just want to play this right now and use space magic to find a new awesome space gun to fight space monsters". Publicly, anyone finds out you're a Destiny fan then it's like people want to conduct an intervention to help you with your unfortunate fascination with this game.  To be honest I get where they come from in not understanding how anyone could be a fan of the game. Since the original Destiny launch back in 2014 the game has not had the best reputation. Players would leave in droves either due to the incredibly disappointing and frustrating RNG loot system, the daunting amount of grind players would have t...

Why I cannot recommend Destiny 2 Pt.2 - Dollars not well spent

Way back when Destiny 2 was first being released I was hesitantly excited about it but then thought about all my experiences of the original Destiny such as completing the first Vault of Glass raid, seeing  my first legendary engram coming back as the Hawkmoon exotic and decking out my Titan with Iron Banner gear.  I then went to take games from my 360 collection that I did not need anymore because I had the remastered versions on my PS4 and got Destiny 2 for six dollars and forty cents.  Six dollars and forty cents Then I played Destiny 2, finished it and played some of the end game and thought "This was not worth six dollars and forty cents." Let me be clear, Destiny 2 was not a broken game to the likes of WoW classic, Cyberpunk or say Fallout 76. In fact the game was expertly crafted together. The locations you would explore, the cut-scenes throughout the game and the gun play was fantastic and it was the same gameplay that I remembered from the first Destiny but slig...

Resident Evil 3 REmake: Something is Missing....

The Resident Evil 2 REmake was not only a good game but it was also a good remake. It stayed true to the original and introduced the same monsters and characters while introducing new elements to the game that made it feel like an entirely new game. In 2019, for many, it was a contender for Game of the Year and it was very deserving of such a consideration.  Fast forward to the following year and it was announced that Resident Evil 3 was being remade. Finally, another long awaited Resident Evil REmake and especially after the last remake there was understandable hype to be felt and of course looking back at the last few Capcom releases: Resident Evil 7, Monster Hunter World and the Resident Evil 2 REmake, this was going to be another outstanding release from Capcom. Then reports came out... It was revealed that the approach to the REmake was instead of telling the story of Resident Evil 3 like in the original with branching paths and dynamic story telling, RE3 Remake was going to t...
